As a touring musician for 12 years I always joked that artists should get Free Hotels and Cell coverage.The long periods away from any semblance of normality, home and family, while self-imposed were very trying at times. The Van was often our Tour HQ, Meeting and dressing room and an impromptu shelter when a gig fell through or didn't provide accomodations. It holds fond memories that believe me are more pleasant as an afterthought than when they actually happened.

Then this morning this caught my eye ........

Motel 6 Extends Free Rooms Contest

Motel 6 and music publishers Primary Wave are continuing their "Rock Yourself To Sleep" campaign. which supports touring bands with free lodging while they are on the road.

Four of the six bands for the new phase have already been chosen but there are two more spots available. For a chance to win six weeks of free lodging at Motel 6's nationwide musicians must submit a song from March 9th - March 29th. The winners will be determined by online fan votes.
