Preparing To Submit Files

CDman considers 'final' design files to be electronic artwork submitted using our templates and created on:

Adobe Illustrator (any version excluding CS4)

The main layout files should be saved in their native AI format. Unless you have been instructed to save as press-ready PDFs, or you need to save as .EPS (because you have CS4 and need to save as CS3 or you have created your art in something other than Illustrator).

Avoid submitting .JPG, GIF, PNG, PSD etc. If you do not have Illustrator  you could use Photoshop and submit raw images as your layout, however, we will need to set into Illustrator to rip film, so this will probably cost extra.  Adobe may offer FREE 30 days trials of these titles from their website www.adobe.com so in order to save money, submit Illustrator files as we can send straight to pre-press.

Note about EPS files:   before saving, make sure you outline all fonts (set text to paths) and ensure you turn off any template guide-layers so that only your art and the black crop marks showing the page cuts are visible.  Also, when saving you must include placed files or the EPS will be missing your images, so make sure they are contained within the EPS.  (tip:  after creating the EPS, open in Photoshop and see if your images and fonts are all in place)
