Proofing Your Artwork Files

When CDman receives your artwork/design files we consider them to be received in ‘final form’. This means that they are ready to print as supplied with no need for modification. Clients may wish to review their file submissions before printing to ensure that the files have been translated properly and to avoid unpleasant surprises. For this reason CDman sends PDF proofs as a standard procedure (option 'A')  for all replication clients. Clients are sent links to review their PDF proofs on-line and must respond to the email advising us that they have reviewed and approve the proofs acceptable for printing. CDman generally does not send PDF proofs for panic jobs whose customers have chosen option C which has no proof approval process.   This allows us to speed up production and make deadlines but only if you are confident that your files are good to go.

Option "A" = standard PDF proofs

Option "B" = (reserved for special color match jobs)

Option "C" = rush, no proofs

Clients who have deadlines or rush turns should supply final pre-approved files and order option 'C'

All orders are warranted against production errors such as ink smudges and obvious errors due to workmanship and flaws in the printing process. To avoid unpleasant surprises, convert all fonts to outlines and embed all images as previously mentioned in this tutorial. If you are supplying PRESS READY files, use Illustrator and save as a self contained press ready PDF-x file format.

Further details regarding proofs: YOU MUST READ THIS:

1. Option A: PDF Electronic Proofs - included with all replication order of 300+

This proofing option is only used to ensure elements have been copied over properly, it is not intended to review, comment or make decisions or corrections on coloration, contrast, darkness nor any other color related issue. CDman prints all jobs in 'gang press' mode meaning the colors of your project are subject to standard SWOP color balancing. This ensures client's receive the best price but at the sacrifice of color guarantees and the option of complaints surrounding color.

  • Your design files are reviewed and PDFs are created
  • We e-mail you proofs in .PDF format.
  • You reply with approval via email.

Once files have been proofed, any re-submissions of files will incur additional charges. Corrections or alterations to submitted files can be made by special request and will be charged accordingly.

THERE IS NO COLOR WARRANTY OFFERED, SUGGESTED NOR PROVIDED FOR PDF PROOF ORDERS.

2. Option “B” : Hard-Copy Printed Proofs - color matching provided

This proofing option is provided as a personal one-on-one consultation approach and must be handled by calling 1-800-557-3347
